Do you believe in unlikelihoods! Redskins beat Dallas.

I have no words to express how absolutely satisfying this is. This is huge. This is enormous. I have to drive for three and half hours right now but that trip just became no-big-shakes given that I have all that time to celebrate this huge win.

More later but, summarizing:

REDSKINS WIN REDSKINS WIN REDSKINS WIN

HTTR.

Enjoy this guys. Postgame analysis is pending, now is time to celebrate.

EDIT: OMGoose I forgot to provide some highlights from the game. We look great!

Too Cool

The season is looking better, the NFC east does have the 4 best teams in the NFC maybe the NFL this year. Winning a divisional game is huge and the continued progression of the Redskins will provide for an exciting year, it’ll be a struggle but it will be satisfying.

Just amazing

I had a strange feeling that the skins could pull this one off. And they did. It got a little sketchy at times. It was a close hard fought game. But man was it a good one. All I can say is on our way to philly next week. Another hard game.

by skinsnyankees on Sep 28, 2008 8:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This game wouldn't have even been close

if:
a) The Skins could have punched in just 1 of those 3 Red Zone opportunities.
b) If we hadn’t started the 3rd quarter changing up our coverage of Owens to some sort of ‘bump zone’, which was awful. When we went man-up on him, he couldn’t get open.

by Hardcore Legend on Sep 28, 2008 8:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It wasn’t the “bump zone” that did it. It was the crossing routes that Owens ran more in the second half. They didn’t have the chances to get the bumps. It was huge because the crossing routes won’t break the back of the secondary.

Congrats skins

as a cowboy fan this loss hurts, but the boys came out completely flat and could not get anything going. I give full credit to the skins for their victory over the team I love. They out played dallas and I am not afraid to say it, the division winner of the east will be the SB Champ. Good Luck, we will see you in DC.

good win Foreskins...

excuse if I’m bitter. but we just got our butts handed too us. Campbell looks great. Portis was, well, Portis. And you seemed to man up on us and win those battles pretty regularly.

Good job. Enjoy. We’ll see you in FedEx where hopefully we’ll have some getback.

Until then savor this victory and we’ll lick our wounds. We do play the bengals next week so it can’t get any worse. lol.

Godspeed Redskins fans. Drink and be merry. You deserve it tonight.

For a little bit of context,

I was in a car on I-10 driving south from Phoenix to Tucson when I first checked the score. I had just watched my hapless Dbacks finish the season on a high note, finishing an 82-80 campaign with a 3 game sweep of the Rockies, Randy Johnson pitching a 2-hit 9 strikeout complete game for his 295th career win in possibly his final career game. So I was already in a pretty good mood.

So then I’m checking the Cowboys-Indians score on my phone, and, lo and behold, the Skins are winning 17-10 at the half. WTF, mate?? So, thanks to the glorious invention that is NFL Mobile Live, I’m able to listen to the Redskins radio feed over my phone for most of the second half, completely free of charge, while on the highway.

That was awesome. The Dbacks tie the game 1-1 in the 8th and then win it 2-1 for Randy on a bases loaded walk with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th in the 162nd game of the season, and then I find out the Redskins are beating the Cowgirls in Big D? In the final regular season matchup at Texas Stadium?? Unreal. Great way to completely transition from baseball season to football season, and from the first half of my username to the second half.

To quote Al Michaels

I do believe in miracles. Been a lifelong Skins fan from SoCal (Last NFL game I saw was the Skins vs. Rams, X-Mas eve 96, 24-21 Skins) want to be a part of my fellow Redskin nation fans. As always “GO SKINS”, from SoCal.

Congratulations....

I especially enjoyed TO complaining after the game that he didn’t get the ball enough. What the hell is he talking about? He got more throws than he deserved because Romo cowtows to him.

One of the Cowboys was heard to say that TO stopped running his routes because he wasn’t getting enough attention. The truth is he couldn’t beat single coverage and when he did get open he couldn’t hold onto the ball.

Anyway, good win for you guys and kudos to Jim Zorn. He is going to be a big time coach.

Jones on sideline

Campbell is young, and the Redskins have a stable of young, fleet, capable receivers that they are developing for the future. The Cowboys depend on a 35-year old receiver to draw double teams and open up the field for the other players. As a Cowboys fan, there is reason to be concerned about the Redskins not only this year but in the future, because they are definitely a team on the rise.

What did you think about Jerry on the sideline yelling at the officials? That’s somewhat embarassing that an owner would be down there intimidating refs.

by rrb on Sep 29, 2008 9:24 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I thought

Jerrah’s yelling particularly reflected badly on Wade Phillips, because that should be HIS job. He’s already on a short leash if he doesn’t deliver a title to big D this year.

any given sunday

doesnt it kind of remind you of the movie any given sunday? when the owner comes down to the locker room at halftime of the playoff game to order al pacino to put in the backup qb? dallas has always seemed to me like a bit of a dysfunctional organization in that style

by joshp on Sep 29, 2008 6:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hmmm.....

yeah, I guess I could see that, certainly more back in the day when Jerrah was more involved.

The Zorn Star just got his first Cowboys victory for the "maroon and black".

Great point

about Jones. Isn’t there a booth with cocktails and shrimps and other hors d ouvres somewhere in the stadium for people of his ilk?

Maybe he should spend less time on the Radio too

Didn’t he just get a fine for what he said about Refs on his Radio program, maybe he should spend more time working with the team.
