Jason Taylor has surgery, out Sunday
ESPN'S Chris Mortenson is reporting on SportsCenter that Jason Taylor is going to be out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys after under going a "knee procedure." I'm looking for internet sources now.
[Note by TexSkins, 09/22/08 12:01 PM CDT ] Leave it up to JaLaCa over at Redskins Insider to have the scoop. Here's what he says:
Defensive end Jason Taylor will be out for this week's Dallas game after having blood released from his left calf muscle, Coach Jim Zorn said.
Taylor was kicked in the calf during the second quarter in yesterday's 24-17 victory over Arizona, but returned to play the entire game. He did not realize he had a problem until last night, Zorn said, when blood began to pool in the leg.
It was reported that he woke up with pain in the knee and team doctors advised he undergo this procedure to avoid "permanent nerve damage." Apparently, there was swelling in the shin area and doctors wanted to make an incision to alleviate it... I dunno.
I'm going to post this and then continue to look for source material. Not good news for the Skins's chances against a tough Cowboys team. It was said he would only miss 1 week. Updates as I know more.

Also from the Insider
Stephon Heyer’s shoulder injury could keep him out and Jansen could very well start Sunday, according to Zorn. Heyer would have to practice by Thursday to play, Zorn said.

Heyer's backup
Jansen, is more than capable. There is not much of a drop off there.

Drop off in pass protection,
probably better in run blocking.

Also an improvement
in not being a total dumbass.
What does Heyer think he is, Flozel Adams?

Hold on a second
Heyer did nothing wrong. This is football not croquet. He crushed him mid-body, legal block but b/c it wasn’t nessasry to the play jackass ref overreacts.
I’m growing more and more frustrated w/ panzy, pussy-ass calls.

The player wasn't looking...
and Heyer got him from the side, a second before the player turned toward him.
And Flozel gets false start penalties, not much else. Usually one a game.

Doesn't matter if he was looking
When you see someone get crushed by a blocker on a kick return they’re not looking.
Block was legal, ref thought that it was to much contact. This is a collision sport and the ref made a horrible judgement call.

Same source...
“Blocker cannot use his hands or arms to push from behind, hang onto, or encircle an opponent in a manner that restricts his movement as the play develops.”
The block was from behind. Any one getting blocked on kick returns might not be looking, but for it to be legal, the body of said player is to be turned toward the player throwing the block.

Well maybe you're right
I don’t remember the block being in the back but if that’s the case then it was a play worthy of yellow fabric being tossed. I still don’t like it.

But didn't Heyer also pull some boneheaded moves
in Week 1 in New York? I seem to recall something happening and I immediately thought “What a genius!”
Yeah, Flozel seems to get a penalty every week that cripples his teams drive.

Well hell has frozen over
for the first time in flozell’s history he did not have a false start against GB, here is to a fans hope that he makes this a trend or it could just be “sun shining on a dogs ass”.

So...
permanent nerve damage would be a problem.
I want to kick kittens right now this is so frustrating.

For a man who has a serious interest in dancing...
nerve damage is bad. So is pooling blood in a leg.
And so is missing the game on Sunday.
And you just want to kick kittens because you’re hella jealous of my fantasy team’s wicked awesome name.
That is all.

Heyers penalty
Actually I think that was a blown call too. It wasnt from the back it was more from the side. And its not heyers fault that there defense doesnt know how to pay attention. I would never ask my lineman to make sure the quarterback still has the ball before he blocks. Heyer didnt really make any mistake in that play.
