Lets Play You're the Head Coach (poll) One More Roster cut
First thing first, LB Matt Sinclair is the latest Redskin to turn in his playbook. Cindy Boren of Redskins Insider with the news:
He bumped into Jason Reid and Paul Tenorio at Redskins Park and told them he has three fractures in a lumbar vertebra (the L-5; we are seeking a little medical clarification on that). "They let me go," he said. "It's going to be at least three months so they had to make room on the roster."
I had heard he was injured and could miss some serious time so I guess the team waited for clarification and when they got it, well down comes the ax. By my count the Redskins have to cut one more player to 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday and then the big roster trim to 53 by 4 p.m. Saturday. Again why is Derek Devine still on this team?
It's better to just try and forget about our last preseason game against Carolina. In my best Forrest Gump voice: "and that's all I'm going to say about that". Maybe so but don't tell Coach Zorn & Antwaaan Randle EL that. Coach Zorn said after the teams performance that the starters better prepare to see some playing time. I'm glad ARE thought: "Yeah, no doubt we have to do this," and "With the way we played, it's just the right thing to do."
It's great to see that Washington Redskins players have pride and want to hit the regular season with some momentum but for me one series that looks like our starters have rhythm is enough. Last week has horrid I know, but I'm not sure risking injury is worth whatever possible momentum obtained by a good drive in the preseason. How would you gameplan?

Just goes to show
how pointless the preseason can be, even for those guys who are allegedly there to earn a spot. He’s been solid throughout the preseason.

So...
you’d cut Kelly or Thomas and keep Burl?
Yes, I am a nerd.

No.
But it raises a question about what a person has to do, exactly, to make a team.

Only 53
Easy question, be one of the best 53 football players or be the best backup at a key position.
I tend to think the other 27 guys who’ve worked during camp, need to be good enough to fill in if a lot of injuries occur but not too good that another team will look at brining them in…a real balancing act. The only advantage to the practice squad is that if another team picks a player from the P/S then they have to go on the 53 man-roster. A lot of these guys who come in and out are learning the Redskins system…just to say.

Wow check this out!
Matt Mosley from ESPN’s NFC East blog has a very hard hitting angle on our current situation.
Even if the Redskins’ starters go out and hang three touchdowns on the Jaguars, it won’t matter. It’s high time someone finally admitted that the preseason isn’t about setting any sort of tempo. It’s about keeping everyone in one piece.

More Roster moves
TE Jason Goode who caught the game wining TD vs the Jets from Colt Brennan who was battling turf toe is now gone. LB Danny Verdun-Wheeler who himself was released August 4th is now back. I agree with Matt Terl, offical Redskins blogger that this move was to get some LB depth b/c we sure don’t need it at TE.

I miss LaVar... so much talent
After a loss to Dallas he stated “I really hate them” and he was my favorite Skin during his tenure with us.

Huge talent
Literally. The man is a beast.
I followed him (and his brother…can’t remember his name right now) through PSU and onto the grass at FedEx. Such a shame how his Skins career ended the way it did. I still can’t decide who’s to blame, the team for removing the bonus monies from the new contract or LaVar and his dipshit agents for missing it and then turning it into a wedge between him and the FO that ultimately ended his career as a Skin. Sure, the injuries didn’t help, but how silly was it to see him standing on the sidelines when he was healthy and ready to contribute knowing that the only thing keeping him from wrecking shit was a contract dispute? Stupid (says the guy who has no idea what it’s like to have $6.5 million taken away from him).
Does he still cover games for Comcast?

Keeping him on the sidelines was a bunch of shit
I haven’t been to my hometown (NOVA Northen VA) in sometime I checked he was still a part of DC Comcast covering the Skins. Is It true LaVar opened a sports bar in State College?

He bought the old Sports Cafe & Grille
Or he’s just a partner or something like that. Last thing I read was that the remodel was underway.
