After beating a defender but missing the catch (on a well-thrown long ball), rookie WR Devin Thomas went down on the sideline, apparently with some sort of leg injury, and was ultimately taken off on a cart. That much is sure.

Update
Per The Insider
Devin Thomas, the wide receiver who was the Redskins’ first overall pick in the April draft, was taken from the field on a cart after suffering what Coach Jim Zorn said is a pulled hamstring. Zorn, speaking immediately after the morning practice, said the team was not yet certain of the severity of the injury, but that he did not believe Thomas, who is getting treatment now, would be out too long.
Also LaRon Landry tweaked his hamstring and DE Chris Wilson pulled a claf. We had a lot of issues with pulls and the such last year and I’m starting to seroiusly wonder about the training staff of the Redskins.

Update #2 Devin Thomas & the cursed hamstring woes strik again
From the Offical Site
Thomas could miss a “couple weeks” of practice time to rehab the injury, executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said.
The injury happened as he was running down the sideline on a long throw from Jason Campbell.
“When he came down off of that long throw, he pulled his hamstring,” head coach Jim Zorn said. “We don’t know the extent of it yet. We’ll get it calmed down and after we evaluate it what it means for getting him back out there.”
I’m not an optimist but coach Zorn is. There was nothing I could do,” Zorn said. “I said, ?Okay, here it is again.’ But fortunately it’s a pulled hamstring. He’ll be back soon.” Vinny Cerroto metions that the good thing about having an extra preeseason game is that Devin Thomas might be able to participate in the other four.
I don’t have the time right now to look up the past injury history of the hamstring or other muscle injuries and post them..but I know they’ve been a big problem with this team in years past. The question is why? Is it the inabilities of the training staff or is it that we have a lot of injury prone players? As a fan this is frustrating, as a player I can’t imagine the greif of how demoralizing having to sit out after puttin in so much hard work.

injury
I was actually at practice this morning at Redskins Park and the injury did look kinda bad. Campbell put the ball up for grabs for him on the sideline and when he came down he landed pretty awkwardly, he was down on the ground for at least 5 mins. He couldn’t even get up on his own, two trainers had to help him up and get him on the cart. He looked pretty upset as he left with a towel over his face and his head down. I’ve been to a few practices this year and I have to say Thomas is definitely losing battle for the third WR spot, Kelly came to camp ready to go. Hes made a play on almost every opportunity and has looked much faster than expected. Devin has been dropping balls like crazy and doesn’t have the speed. Right now I think we just lost our 4th best wide out, maybe 5th. Thrash looks great coming of his injury and is still a capable receiver. There has been no threat thus far of any of the rookies looking better than any of the vets, but then again it is early in camp. Santana and Twan look awesome and are making a lot of plays in the middle. Im not really hanging my head over this injury.

Thanks & Welcome to Hogs Haven
Your description of what happend is the most detailed one I’ve seen. I assumed that Devin Thomas ran a fly pattern and came up lame.
I had heard that Thrash was having an excellent camp, any idea how Anthony Mix doing in camp?

Yea Thrash is having a great camp; I just can’t see him not making this team especially with his special teams skills. His leadership is too important to this young group of receivers. Mix looks good hes just not getting a lot of snaps during team drills, and when he is hes taking them from the duo of Devine and Brennan. He looks just fine during individual drills. The QBs are having a rough time though, most surprisingly Collins. He looked awful today. He threw a few picks (one to Blades) in the team drills and looked totally out of his element. He even missed big on a 15 yard fade to Yoder in the warm-ups going half speed. Campbell is also not doing spectacular. His decisions making abilities are looker as bad as ever and at one point Zorn was actually screaming at him "NO! NO! NO! NO!" All the Qbs are sitting way too long in the pocket, and the fans were grumbling more and more as each snap went on. I hope they start to get the system down soon or the defense is going to have a very long year.

Fred Davis has looked ok but hes having to deal with Cooley getting almost all the reps. I haven’t seen him making many plays down the field, hes being used more as a utility TE doing some blocking in the new system. I haven’t seen him make any real noticeable plays. The funny this about Fred Davis is that the skins also have another rookie TE Jason Goode who has a very similar frame and is wearing #85. So when Goode was making plays a lot of fans thought it was Fred Davis, and didn’t seem to notice anything Davis was doing, wearing #86. The best part was when Goode came over to me to sign some stuff there was a rush to get an autograph from "Fred Davis." Everyone was asking how he liked it here, how the Trojans are gonna do this season, asking "Fred" to signed their stuff. I had to feel bad for the guy, but he had a few friends watching practice who were telling people "HES NOT FRED DAVIS!!!"

I have not seen much of the cheerleaders aside from a week ago when a few came into the bar I work at. I’m a bouncer at an Irish pub in Fairfax and a lot of them go to Mason. I know they are performing Saturday at fan appreciation day but I am not planning on attending, I might change my mind if you guys want my further insights on the scrimmage though so let me know, I will endure the heat and the masses for the greater good if you guys want.

That would be great.
Your insights are alot better than most of the journalists that are covering camp. If you got the time and want to put your thoughts down afterwards, you’d have at least one interested reader right here.
