OTA Concerns
From the Insider.
Defensive back Shawn Springs and LaRon Landry, who have not been participating in most of the team's offseason programs, are not present for the first of eight OTA sessions. Springs trains in Arizona, and did not take part in most of last year's offseason programs, while Landry, a second-year safety, has drawn some raised eyebrows around Redskins Park with his absence this spring.
Starting wide receiver Santana Moss, who spent the weekend at various birthday parties and charity events in his name, was excused from practice with the flu.
I'm a beliver that everyone on the team should attend these practices as to build team unity and esprit de corps. However in this day and age money rules all and things like team unity aren't as important as they used to be. It's understandable I guess if proven veterans chose to not participate in any of the team's voluntary offseason programs, following the precedent of Springs, Sean Taylor, and Santana Moss in previous years. However for S LaRon Landry not to be showing, well I have a problem with that. We all know the man is on the path to be a perinal all-star but he's not there yet. This coupled with him saying he'd be at the "Redskins Beach Blitz" and the subscuent skipping of said event, has me very concered that the man thinks his shit don't stink.
The Insider also mentioned that Moss missed the first day of OTA's because of a flu. It's been well publisised in the DC media that we would have multiple B-day parties over the weekend and I find it very curious that he isn't there. I mean we've all called into work and said "uhhh I'm sick, can't come in." Is it possible that the mood at Redskin Park is to relaxed?

Defensive Players, not a real concern
I’m not real concerned as long as they are not missing required team events. If it was offensive players I’d be more concerned as a new offense is being introduced and needs to be learned. It’s not too relaxed, as players have to perform.

I'm kind of old fashioned
when it comes to these sorts of things and think showing up to team meetings, especially the voluntary ones, reflects an interest in improving the team; all things equal I’d rather them all be there than not.
At the end of the day, though, results matter more than attendence at voluntary meetings. This will give me an excuse to blame players after the fact if this entire thing collapses.

Then again what is it really?
The times reports:
While Zorn and defensive coordinator Greg Blache said that they hadn’t heard from the missing defensive backs, teammates said they had heard from them and that each had missed his flight.

Landry
is back in camp and said his absence was due to a family matter. Moss is back as well and admits that his flu was pary induced. Zorn said he still hasn’t herd from Springs which is BS to me because, what the hell does that say about respect? I dunno in this day in age there’s only 32 diffrent ways to get a hold of someone…
