Is Rock Cartwright possibly on the bubble?

With the current stock of backs on the roster..( Portis, Betts, Cartwright, Mason, & Shelton) and a new coach now in charge will Rock's Special teams work be enough to win him a roster spot? Mason may get more of a look this season & Shelton has been mentioned as possibly having some FB potential ala Mack Strong Zorn's FB in Seattle. So without having Coach Gibbs so-called" core redskin" status will Rock need to really put on a show in camp and the pre season?

I wouldn't think so

His 25.8 kick return average was near the top in the NFC and he’s one of the leaders on our team. For a RB that’s thrid on the depth chart he’s got a ton of experiance, and he’s all heart and hustle on the field. I see Mason being on the practice squad again. I think it would be safe to say that this is the last year that Portis, Betts, and Cartwright will be on the same team.

If anyone’s on the bubble I think it’s WR James Thrash. There’s a number crunch at WR and I think it will come down to Mix & Thrash .Both are good at special teams but Mix is bigger & younger with more upside.

He might be...

the addition of Mathis (a Pro Bowl KR) and the number of RBs makes for stiff competition. But I think, in the end, Rock will find a spot on this team for at least one more year.

I think Zorn is all for competition… and I’m all for that.

Consider this though

there’s two KR’s lined up back there. Who’ the other one? Thrash, and I think he’s the one who will get caught up in the numbers crunch. However I can see Mathis being the one who doesn’t make it so it could be a “wash” either way.
