Week 14 Open Thread
I'm opening this early so that you can comment on any of the day games that can directly determine the Skins' playoff chances (Giants and Eagles at 1 pm EST, Cowboys at the Steelers at 4:30 pm EST) before tonight's game. Consider this an all day open thread.
You can take a quick look at a preview here and the weather should be pretty cold and windy. The forecast calls for 30 degrees to feel like 18 degrees with the 19 mph winds that are expected. Wicked cold. The good news? Clear skies and no rain/snow.
Anyway, enjoy your football Sunday. It'll be interesting to see some of the bowl game selections. Hopefully, the Skins' playoff chances will live for another week. A loss tonight pretty much spells the end of the season. That's where we stand. HTTR.

Too Strong
A loss tonight pretty much spells the end of the season,
Not really true, while a loss would put the Redskins in a poor situation it would not be as bad as a loss in two weeks to Philadelphia or three weeks to SF. It would require a sweep of the 3 remaining games to finish 10-6.
Rich Tandler spelled it out pretty well…
Will 10 wins get in?
What it boils down to here is that while this Sunday night’s game against the Ravens is important in a lot of ways, it’s not vital to the team’s playoff chances. If they lose, it’s a non-conference game and they would be facing three games that they would have to sweep to get to 10.
It took 4 last year, if it only takes 3 this year…that’s an improvment!
but just to keep the “raven” chatter up…Redskins 31 Ravens 10! HTTR

Things get better if Dallas loses ...
I think that is as important as a win tonight. Either TB or Carolina will end the week at 9-4. We could end up tied with Dallas at 8-5 with a win and a Dallas loss. That is ideal, I think.
It is probably also best that the Giants win (keeping the Eagles in the basement), although I am happy they are down by 10 anyway (for some reason I always disliked the Giants more than the Eagles (with both being better than the Cowboys, of course)).
Go Skins.

hmm
i agree, I kinda just want the g-men to put the eagles outta their playoff misery….despite my hatred of new york. also, the FALCONS // SAINTS game is JUST as important as the Cowboys game, although i agree, that is a must lose for the cowgirls. Ideally, falcons lose, cowgirls lose, eagles lose, Redskins WIN.
11-5 for the wild card, baby

You have 3 teams in the NFC South...
8-4 or better. (Right now, ATL is up 25-22 with 7:30+ left in the 4th.) You also have the Cowboys at 8-4.
10 wins won’t be enough. To steal from Tandler:
TB 9-3: @CAR @ATL SD OAK
CAR 9-3: TB DEN @NYG @NO
ATL 8-4: @NO TB @MIN STL
DAL 8-4: @PIT NYG BAL @PHI
WAS 7-5: @BAL @CIN PHI @SF
I see CAR with at least 11 (NO and DEN) which leaves 1 spot. ATL could very well win out or lose 2 of their last 3. They’re hard to predict. I say they win at least 1 (STL) and, if they win today, that puts them at 10. They’d have to win only 1 of TB at home and at MIN to get to 11.
The Cowboys need a bunch of wins and have the toughest schedule. I say they finish 2-2, putting them at 10.
10 wins just isn’t enough.

A little update...
NO looks like they’re gonna hang on for the win. And PHI upset NYG, so they’re back in the discussion at 7-5-1.
So… let’s hope this wakes up the Giants for the upcoming Cowboys game. Getting back on the road (and away from the New York media) can only help the G-Men.
The Vikings (8-5) won. Chicago (7-6) looks like they’ll win. I don’t think either can win a WC spot. That’s it for now.
Yes, I am a nerd.

Wouldn't it suck
to see dallas go 0-4 in December! It could easily happen with NY, Balt. and Phila remaining!

Tired Of Watching A Bunch Of Losers
I’am 26 years old, I have been a hardcore redskins fan since 1990, I don’t know how you guys feel, but I’m so tired of watching a bunch of losers. It just feels like these guys have no passion to do anything. The offensive line is the worst in the nfl, the redskins have blown draft pick after draft pick, and chris samuels was the last draft pick worth anything, they never go after offensive or deffensive linemen, instead we go after washed up linemen that do nothing to help our team. Cambell has no time to pass, ever!!!! and Portis has no running lanes, every yard he gets, he does all of the work. Our starting receivers are way too short, santana can’t get open and antwan is a joke. We drafted two tall receivers and we don’t use them, and chris cooley is more concerned about his blog and joking around, instead of blocking or getting open. Our defense cant get to the quarterback to save our lives, we have had 99 blitzes where we bring 6 defensive players and only have eight sacks,m which is the worst in the nfl by far, and hall has two picks and he has been with the team a month, while rogers, springs, and smoot suck. Our kicker is horrible and I don’t understand why he is still with the team. I don’t mean to vent but I’m so tired of being losers. I think what really made me realize this was last year when we lost Taylor, and these loser fucks didn’t even have enough pride to go beat buffalo at home, and last week when we inducted him into the ring of fame, and the giants come in and kick our ass. I love the redskins and I will always be redskin fan but I’m tired of watching a bunch of heartless cowards who don’t care about anything but collecting a game check. I hate writing this but I’m pissed and I’m tired of underachieving, we need change and I don’t know if it will ever happen.

Ravens Fan here
I am not here to gloat or to have any ill will. They way that the Redskins organization handled the horrific and sad events of Sean Taylor’s death….well for lack of a better and more meaningful word…your team handled it Classy. A lot of organizations would not have shown the class and the dignity that the Redskins showed. I don’t like the Redskins…but the way that they handled the terrible events…I gained a lot of respect for the organization. It didn’t matter that they won or loss on those sad….sad days. so close to his death..the fact that the Redskins, and the Redskins nation took the time to remember his life and not his death meant a lot to me and I am sure, his family. In a perfect world, I could say that what your team did would be the norm for NFL Teams and not the exception….but that wouldn’t be true. Regardless of how the game ended today…and again…I am a life long Baltimore fan…I would be proud to associate with any club that showed the dignity and respect to the Taylor family that your Redskins did.
"When they get drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, we expect them to play like that. Are we surprised? No."

Ravens offense is Real
Ravens offense is better than the 10 points, excellent drive and touchdown to seal the win. With that Defense the Ravens should be a scary team to everyone in the playoffs
Good luck

REAL KINGS OF MARYLAND!
Good effort Wash, but we are too dominating of a team. Our defense is too fast for you all. Good luck the rest of the season.

Good effort?
Our o-line is injury ridden, our receivers stink and I’m finally starting to accept the fact that Jason Campbell simply doesn’t get it. Way to waste an awesome effort by the defense this year guys…

Jason Campbell or Colt Brennen? the question rises again!
I personally hate saying this but its time for Colt at Qb if we lose another game. Yes I know that JC had a good start to the year and injuries are killing us but just look at it this way, JC is only worth a little under 800,000$ in 2009 and 2010 is a free agent so giving the rookie a shot would give us two things a cheap chance to see what Colt can offer, and a big piece of humble pie for JC. Just remember last year JC got hurt TC came in and boom 4 in a row and playoffs, so its not so far fetched! Dont get me wrong I’ve been a JC supporter since he replaced the washed up Brunnel so it hurts me to say all this but why not see what the younger QB can do before we pay JC anymore money?
