3 losses out of 4: Who are these Redskins

The team get's beat by a top tier team again!

Another loss in a season whch started out with so few, so who are these Redskins and how are they actually performing without a knee jerk reaction to the poor play this past Sunday.

The Redskins returned all available starters from a 2007 playoff team, in words this would be a positive sign of a stable group, a strong veteran team who understand how to win.  However, it's the details which matter.

1. A recieving group which has one outstanding reciever, at best a number 3 and a great special teams player.  Redskins addressed this issue by drafting two promising WR in the second round of the draft.  Rookie's do and have contributed to teams but it should not be exptected.  The Redskins drafted for the future, not for this year.  No upgrade results in similar play this year to last year and previous years

2. An older offensive line, which performs and is not as much of the issue as it appears.  Yes, provided more time the passing game would be better but give any quarterback more time and he becomes a superstar.  A quarterback who can function in duress is a quarterback who is special.

3. Defense has improved, and again is developing young players who may contribute in years to come, at the expense of this year maybe or maybe not.

How many pieces can be corrected in a year and what can be accomplished with a rookie head coach, As fans we tend to get to excited about wins and losses when almost everyone pegged this team for what it was in the preseason, a team building which could surprise teams but is establishing a good foundation for the future.  The Redskins never changed, the fans perspective changed when the Redskins got lucky early with some inspired play.  The Redskins are in the Top-half of the teams in the NFL, but are not ready to be one of the top teams this year...they are building for that to occur!

So, Go out and Win Redskins or not because few picked the team to finish higher than 8-8 or 9-7 this year...and if that doesn't make a playoff spot then it wasn't from the Redskins meeting expectations it was from other teams exceeding expectations...I'd rather the Redskins be on a path to consistent winners then up one year and down the next year...
