Practice squad comings and goings normally missed

Star-divide

Practice squad changes, moves and transactions are typically little blips either tucked away withing the NFLs transaction pages or provided one one or two lines but the inside beat reporters to keep everyone up to date.

Washington Post's Redskins insiders provides a quick hit with

Safety signed to Practice squad:

signed safety Michael Grant to the practice squad, filling a spot vacated by Matterral Richardson, who was signed by the Houston Texans to their active roster.

Checked a couple of sights to validate the information,  The Official Redskin site has no information but the Texan's official sight does have Matterral Richardson, CB being signed to their active roster effective 11/26.

NFL transactions list an 11/19 Redskins signing of Steve Octavien, and the official Redskin page lists him as being on the practice squad effective 11/20.

Per the official sight of the Washington Redskins:

The 6-foot, 238-pound Octavien went to training camp with Kansas City this season after the Chiefs signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska. Octavien played in 22 games, with 10 starts, for the Cornhuskers from 2005-07 after transferring from William Rainey Harper College.

As a senior in Lincoln, Octavien started eight of the 12 games in which he played and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honor. He also was named the team’s defensive most valuable player. On the year, Octavien recorded 92 tackles, two sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and three passes defensed.

As best I can recall that is two practice squad players signed to active rosters and a third preseason favorite(Mason) who was signed to Baltimore's practice squad and  is now on an active roster of the NY jets.  Add the claiming of Leigh T. from waivers, it appears the Washington Redskins are releasing talent which couldn't make the teams active roster due to depth, a tribute to the talent evaluation of the Front office.
