Vinny Cerrato has a new title

Now he's Executive Vice President of Football Operations. Hat tip to skinsnyankees and the word is up at the official site:

The Redskins have named Vinny Cerrato to the new position of Executive Vice President-Football Operations, the team announced on Tuesday.

Cerrato will assume responsibility for all aspects of the team's football organization, including personnel, the team roster, scouting and salary cap management.

Executive Vice President - Screwing the Redskins
Remember kids, Marty Schottenheimer fired Vinny Cerrato after less than three weeks on the job in January 2001.  Marty knew the deal with Vinny.

I'm not sure
How I feel about this.  I would like to think that the overpayment of "marquee" vets was a boost for the "Joe Gibbs Era II".  The team is screwed from here til at least 2011 if they don't emphasize the draft NOW.  Trade some vets for 3-5 rounders (this year and next), lighten the load.  Bundle those to trade up when a top prospect is just outside of reach for a position of need.  I would like to think this will be alright, but from what i heard, this is merely a formality.  Nothing really chnages.  Whoopty-freakin-do!

We should bring back the GM from the 80's...I forget his name...hmmm.  Well, they should pick up the personnel director from the Colts or Packers...

Please let him not go back to pre gibbs
Am i asking to much here? Can we hope we dont get Vinny pre Gibbs 2.0. Will I have to go back to the days in between the Gibb eras where i lost interest, just sort of came to the realization it wasnt going to happen. Please, if their's any divine being whatsoever i am asking to please guide this man to some sort of light.

I've finally enjoyed football the last 4 years, and now this. But i am willing to extend my support for one year, maybe two. I'm sure most of us will know if this is going to work. But will Dan know or will he keep this man around forever.

My biggest fear is that we will go into a slow death. Maybe a touch of spark, then hope every once in a while. Then before we know it 10 years gone by and nothing. Please, please, dont let it happen to us again.

I'm guessing the coaching change(s) will be announced Wed. or Thur. now.
