Redskins need to go 0-16 in 2009

...To maximize their odds of having the first overall pick, and a shot at drafting Matewan High School runningback Paul McCoy.  From today's Saturday Gazette-Mail:

Another big night for Matewan RB McCoy

Matewan senior running back Paul McCoy broke his own single-game state rushing record and may have set a national mark with 661 yards on 25 carries and 10 touchdowns in a 64-0 home victory against Burch on Friday night.

According to wvmetronews.com, the National Federation of State High School Associations lists the top marks through 2004, and the best single-game rushing effort listed is 619 yards set by Ronney Jenkins of Oxnard, Calif., in 1995.

McCoy's 10 rushing touchdowns in a single game would tie him for the second-most ever, according the 2004 NFSHS records. The top mark list is 12 TDs scored by Ken Pearson of Hugo, Colo., in 1930.

McCoy turned in a 537-yard performance and six scores to open the season. Through Matewan's first five games, McCoy has 1,820 rushing yards with 26 TDs -- 25 of them rushing and one on a punt return.

McCoy will be a nice one-two punch with the Redskins' other 2010 runningback, T.J. Duckett.
