Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Good Morning News

-- No surprises here, the Washington Redskins are the richest team in the NFL. At 1.4 billion dollars, the Redskins dominate the 2nd place Patriots (1.176). Our 108 million operating income is more than the 7 poorest (relative term) franchises combines. Say what you want about Snyder, but he's a saavy business man.

Seriously though, say what you want about Snyder. That's what the comment section is for.

-- Speaking of Snyder, in case you hadn't noticed he has agreed  to cover Tom Cruise's production overhead for the next two years. A friend of mine asked if I would be boycotting Washington Redskins games now (I did not see Mission Impossible 3 really because it just didn't look all that interesting to me, but used the excuse that Tom Cruise was insane as an easy out). I said no, of course not, I didn't boycott Paramount, just Tom Cruise. In any event, I trust Dan Snyder is smart enough to come out of this deal paaaaaaaid and anything that lines his pockets very likely could end up lining the pockets of current/future Washington Redskins players. Tom Cruise might be insane, but he still draws at the box office.

-- Michael Wilbon takes a stab at JC's preseason preformance:

Jason Campbell might very well be the quarterback of the future, but there was nothing about his preseason performance that would lead any savvy observer to suggest the kid should be a starter this season.

Someone needs to tell Peter King, who was predicting Campbell's imminent takeover of the team around this time... last year.

But Wilbon reminds us, repeatedly, that the preseason does not matter and that the Redskins are now 0-0, just like 31 other NFL teams. Thank God it's finally over.

-- Safety and sixth round draft pick Reed Doughty missed yesterday's preseason game to be with his wife and newly born son. Their child was born 6 weeks premature and is currently in intensive care. I don't know how this affects his chances at making the squad, but frankly there are more important things than Football and family is one of them. I hope everything works out for Doughty and my prayers are with him and his family.

-- Allegedly here is a NFC East preview video although I can't get the stupid thing working. If anyone else can please inform your idiot host how to get it working in the comments section.

-- Warpath's 53 man roster prediction disagrees with me slightly. I don't think the Redskins are keeping 6 WRs (they do) and I don't think Nehemia Broughton will make the team (they do). We'll see who is right.

-- Sports Illustrated predicts a 1st place NFC finish for the Redskins. They are correct, but it won't be with a 9-7 finish (they had all teams going 9-7 in the East).

Let me know what I missed and have a happy, drunk, and safe Labor Day Weekend.

Cheers.

Wilbon
Wilbon is right. Campbell doesn't look ready. Unfortunately, neither does Brunell and Todd Collins has proven throughout his career to be most effective when holding a clipboard on the sidelines.

Actually
I think Campbell does look ready.  If he was allowed to play with starters, his numbers would be a lot better.
